The Extra Mile
Part of a series known as ‘Glovebox Guides’, The Extra Mile is a book designed to be kept in the car and called upon when needing an alternative to your regular motorway services. Featuring our very own Folk Cafe, this book is filled with 275 recommendations of local pubs, farm shops, cafes and delis that are all situated within a short distance off the main roads of England, Scotland and Wales.
Divided into chapters relevant to their location, each suggestion has a page filled with useful and relevant information on when best to visit and maps showing how best to find them. This book is a perfect addition to your glovebox, or as a gift for someone who is always on the road!
Pinches Salt Pots
Pinches are a small, family run business based locally to Folk in Walsham Le Willows. Mother and Daughter duo Jan and Kate began their business in 2022, after a life-long love affair with food. Between the two of them, they now hand blend their flavoured salts and package them beautifully, using the best natural ingredients.
You can find a range of their salt products in our shop and deli section, including a few of their best selling flavours - Garlic, Fennel, Chilli, Oregano, Lemon and Porcini Mushroom Salts. They also provide details on how to utilise their products, with recommendations on what foods they pair best with and a few of their personal favourites.
Honest Toil
Honest Toil’s Extra Virgin Olive Oil comes from the groves of Messinia, Peloponnese in Greece. Run by Tom, Juli and their family, their olive oil business is a true family affair and one that has seen huge success in recent years. They feel very strongly about providing an Olive Oil that is completely unfiltered and unblended, meaning they can provide a product in its purest form that tastes ridiculously good!
At the core of their business is sustainability. So with this in mind they harvest with traditional and low-impact methods, relying on the help of other small, family-run olive farms in the local area to help grow to meet their demands. By doing so they are helping supply an income for the locals whilst ensuring that no inferior oils are mixed with their produce like that of big-scale production companies. Much like our ethos at Folk, we love high-end, quality ingredients - hence why we decided to stock this product in our shop.
CUB Folk Peach Dog Toy
Folk is renowned for being super dog friendly, so with this in mind we decided to stock something for our furry-friends too. CUB is a company local to Bury St Edmunds, who aim to provide toys and treats using the best quality ingredients and materials. This family run business create everything they do in the most sustainable ways possible, whilst creating dog toys that are high-quality and stand out from other products on the market.
We recently collaborated with CUB to produce our iconic peach logo in dog toy form! Made from suede and natural jute with a coconut fibre stuffing, you can find them for sale located in our shop section at the cafe.
The Pickled Jam Company
The Pickled Jam Company is owned by Lee Cecil. Who, having spent over 30 years of his life in various roles within the catering industry, decided in 2017 that he needed to spend more time at home with his 3 daughters as they were growing up. As a result, The Pickled Jam Company was born! With an initial sole focus on chutneys and relishes, Lee’s aim was to create a high end Piccalilli that he thought would become his signature product. However, he is now perhaps best known for his Banana Ketchup. Something which he first tried years ago after buying because it was so different to anything he had ever had before. After perfecting his recipe, in 2020 he received a 1 star review from the Great Taste Awards for this standout, unique sauce.
We stock a variety of his products in the shop at Folk, including Black Garlic Ketchup, Brinjal Pickle, Piccalilli and his latest edition - Hot Pineapple Sauce. You can also find Lee on his weekly pitch at Hadleigh market every Friday, selling his Pickled Jam Company goods, alongside an array of cakes and sausage rolls.
